Hadith of "Seek me at The Path"

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنْ يَشْفَعَ لِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَقَالَ ﷺ : "أَنَا فَاعِلٌ ! قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّه،ِ فَأَيْنَ أَطْلُبُكَ؟ قَالَ ﷺ : اطْلُبْنِي أَوَّلَ مَا تَطْلُبُنِي عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ. قَالَ : قُلْتُ : فَإِنْ لَمْ أَلْقَكَ عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ؟ قَالَ ﷺ : فَاطْلُبْنِي عِنْدَ الْمِيزَانِ. قُلْتُ : فَإِنْ لَمْ أَلْقَكَ عِنْدَ الْمِيزَانِ؟ قَالَ ﷺ : فَاطْلُبْنِي عِنْدَ الْحَوْضِ فَإِنِّي لَا أُخْطِئُ هَذِهِ الثَّلَاثَ الْمَوَاطِنَ." رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

On the authority of ʾAnas ʾibn Mālik, may Allah be pleased with him; he said: “I asked the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, to intercede [yashfa'a] for me on the day of judgement. He ﷺ said: I am to do so! Said he [ʾAnas]: I said: O Messenger of Allah, where then shall I seek you? He ﷺ said: Seek me, when first you seek me, upon The Path [Aṣ-ṣirāṭ]. Said he: I said: and if I do not find you at The Path? He ﷺ said: then, seek me at The Scale [Al-Mīzān]. I said: and If I do not find you at The Scale? He ﷺ said: then seek me at The Fountain [Al-Ḥawḍ. Lit. pond, font or basin], for I do not falter from these three localities.” [Narrated by: ʾAḥmed and At-Tirmidhī and said: it [the ḥadīth] is Hassan, and Gharīb].
